Don't knock the Nag

Having a really hard time getting my body back on East coast time. I normally go to bed at around 11:30-12:00 midnight. Well, that's 3AM here! Good thing I stocked up on my favorite incense while visiting in Oregon. Nothing like a little Nag Champa before bedtime...Sweet dreams! You'll hear more from me tomarrow~

Sock Fettish

SOMETHING AFOOT....

Every year when I go on vacation, I try to find the most unique socks possible. I've been doing this for years and so when I come home from vacation, my co-workers and closest friends ask to see my socks until they've seen all the new ones. Since I wasn't able to go last year, all my socks were 3 years old! I had to throw out a bunch of my favorite ones like the ladybug socks and the palm tree socks and my spider socks and the martini glass socks. While in Oregon, I purchased 16 new pairs of socks-most with animals, sea creatures or a nautical theme. My favorite pairs so far are the Dolphin ones and the Starfish socks.

I think this all started when I had to switch to wearing scrubs to work every day and they had to be one solid color. Therefore, I had to find some little way to spice up the ensemble. True, not too many people would be aware of my socks BUT I WOULD KNOW...Sometimes it's fun to have a little secret. And then there's the subject of underwear-but that deserves a separate blog all its own! Check out the fancy footwear. Pretty cool, huh?

Tradition -Indian Springs Trout Farm

HERE'S A REEL FISH TALE!

There's something fishy going on here....

One of the first things my kids always want to do when we arrive in Oregon is to go to the trout farm that my dad used to take the boys fishing at when they were small. Now Trevor has the opportunity to share this experience with the next generation by showing nephew Jayden how it's done!
Courtney, always the good sport and up to do most anything, tries her hand at snagging a big one!

This lady has been the owner for over 20 years and has watched Tyler and Trevor grow up. Now she gives Jayden his first bird's eye view of how to handle your fish properly:
After the fishing, we always take some trout to our dear friend, "Aunt Weezie" who loves fish but is getting up in years and never gets out to go fishing herself. She plays the piano at our old church in Oregon and I have known her all my life! She looks forward every year to the boys coming to visit and to bring fish! Tradition.

Oregon Zoo

"T" is obsessed with his zoo key! He had one when he was little and lost it-finally this travesty is set right!

ALL THE ANIMALS IN THE ZOO ARE JUMPING UP AND DOWN FOR YOU!

WHAT SEPARATES US FROM THE OTHER MONKEYS? WE SHOULD BE WEARING HATS!

THE WHOLE FANDAMILY!
On June 1st, I went to the Oregon Zoo with my niece Kim aka "Toad" (that's ok, she calls me Aunt Loonie and Lewis is Uncle Wierdo!) and her daughter Kelcee, Trev, Court, and Jayden. When we lived in Newberg, we were members of this zoo and it used to be one of our favorite haunts when the kids were little. Being such an animal person myself, I was really geeked to visit the zoo but felt a little sad when I saw how much everything had changed, some parts new to me and some parts so different it was unrecognizable. We moved the year the zoo got the Naked Mole Rats-we all got T-shirts that had a picture of the mole rats, the zoo logo, and the phrase, "A face that only a mother could love." Which was about true. They were so ugly they were cute! We spent a very fun day together and I found that I still have a great fondness for the zoo!

GO BLUE!

Leave it to a Michigander to have a cat named Blue, aka Royal Blue aka HRH (His Royal Highness) King Blue, aka Bluie, aka Balls or Blue Balls McKenzie!(The last two monikers came from Tyler-figures!)
Blue is one of the last two cats to come live with me back in 2005-which was a very cat year!
Always the favorite cat of anyone who comes to my house to visit, he is very social and gregarious. At nearly 20 pounds, he is certainly the king of our jungle here at animalhouse5060!
Being such a big boy, he likes to play rough~but reserves his more sensitive, affectionate side for his mommy!

Vacation is over...

Lincoln City, OR on the Pacific Coast
Beautiful Mt. Hood

Willamette Falls in Oregon City, OR
Due to technical difficulties, I was unable to blog during my vacation to Oregon. This was the best trip I've ever taken...so far...I definitely have some tales to tell. Where do I even begin?? Here's a little background information. I left on May 26th and returned on June 10th. I went to Oregon initially with my grandson, Jayden, and was joined on May 31st by my youngest son Trevor and his girlfriend Courtney.
The primary reason to visit Oregon was to see my parents,
whom I had not seen two years prior to that, and to connect with family and friends. Plus, everyone needs downtime and a little R&R.
I spent the first 5 days just hanging out with my parents and my sister Marcee. When Trev and Courtney came, my family had a big barbecue for everyone. Then , Trev, Court, Jayden and I went to the Oregon coast for several days where we gorged on seafood and played on the beach and at the casino and stopped on our way back to visit Lewis' sister in McMinnville, OR. I was able to see my friend Ruth on Thursday June 7, and left bright and early for San Diego on Friday, June 8th. We were met in San Diego by Lewis and taken to Medieval Times in Anaheim. On Saturday, June 9th, we went to Disneyland. On Sunday, June 10th, I returned home.
Vacation days have a way of just flying by. I was so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend two weeks with my grandson and was able to let my parents meet and spend time with him. It was bittersweet saying good-bye to my parents. At their ages, I never know if this will be the last visit. The time was very precious. I love the people in my life!
Returning to Body Perfections, I was greeted with great enthusiasm by both my co-workers and clients, and was reminded that I am missed when I'm not there and greatly appreciated.
It doesn't get any better than this...
